Christmas in Santa Barbara is a unique experience. Last year at this time, we were packing and rushing to get out here to start my new job. I experienced a bit of the Christmas atmosphere, but it was almost over by the time I got here. I was amazed at how beautiful it was and surprised that it felt as festive as it did. One would think you need the cold and snow for it to feel like Christmas, but it really has nothing to do with that. It's about the feeling in the air and in your heart, and in Santa Barbara, the feeling is completely Christmas.
Seeing tiny lights laced through palm trees is about the prettiest thing I've ever seen at Christmas.
This weekend we went downtown a few times and walked around in the stores and ate and just enjoyed the whole atmosphere. People seem so happy and the whole spirit of downtown is festive.
We took a few pictures to share. December 10, 2005.
The sky here turns the most lovely colors at sunset.

The Mountains
We drove up to a beautiful place in the Los Padres National Forest and saw some breathtaking views of Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands.
Moving and Flowers
We're still getting Chuck moved and we rented a storage area to put things in until we have time to go through everything. The place has some beautiful flowers so, of course, I had to take some pictures.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
