Spring in Santa Barbara is truly glorious.
This is the first week that it's been staying lighter in the evenings, so we can go and do things after work. I've been waiting for this since I moved here. We have so many wonderful outings planned, it will be a fabulous summer for us, I'm sure.
Tonight we went back down to the harbor. We have been going there lately to walk. It was quiet and very few people were there. The air smelled so sweet, like some tropical flower and the air felt so crisp and clean. It was windy and a bit nippy, which surprised me. It was beautiful and sunny all day, and very warm.
The boys just love going down to the harbor, or the beach...or anywhere for that matter! It does seem that way, doesn't it? We have been so busy lately, they were happy to get out and just walk. We walked all the way down the pier to the end and stood and watched the waves whipping against the concrete wall, and watching the boats coming back in for the night. As the sun started going down and the wind got stronger, we made our way back to the dock area and back to the car. Toby walked all the way back on the concrete wall. He just loves it up there and he holds his head up and trots. People laugh and smile watching him. He's so proud of himself. Elvis is a bit too afraid to do that, but he is proud of Toby too.
We can't wait for more walks and evening fun with the longer days. We just love it here, and really feel like we're in paradise.
It really is such a dream come true for us.
We park in the lot to the left and walk up this walkway, which leads to several nice restaurants and the Maritime Museum.
Looking back towards the lot.
The clouds all day today just laid on top of the mountains. It was lovely watching them change throughout the day.
Toby was such a good poser for me today. Elvis' mind was elsewhere, maybe still in Hollywood? He wouldn't cooperate with me at all.
"Mom, I'm such a good boy"
There were some pre-teen boys playing ball on the beach and my boys were fascinated with them.
The walk to get out to that little island we were at on Easter is here. It's really quite a trek. This is pretty far out into the bay and they say you can often see whales and dolphins here, although we haven't yet.
We walk to the end and if you see those big rocks back there, that's the place we were at where the dogs came after us. It's really a lovely spot and secluded, which is nice when I am wanting to take pictures. Toby makes me pick him up and put him on this wall and he will walk the whole distance on this wall while Elvis and I walk along side.
The surf was very strong with the force of the winds tonight. I leaned over the wall a bit for this shot.
Again, leaning over. This is towards the Wharf area, more towards downtown.
Isn't that lovely? What a beautiful blue the skies are here.
Once we turned around to walk back, the sun was setting behind the boats.
Toby says he will work hard in Hollywood if we can have a boat here to go out on.....(like that will happen!)
I love leaning against this wall when the surf is so rough. When it hits the rocks and the wall, it splashes up and it makes the most wonderful sound.
My Toby loves it just like I do. We both lean over to get as close as we can to the water. I've never seen a dog love the sea and all that goes with it the way this boy does.
He just checks out everything and seems to be so much at peace when he's by the water. He sits so still and you can see him just listening to it all.
He loves the smells too. Now he's ready to walk onward again. Such a cute little man. He just makes me smile so much.
See, look at that pose! And poor Elvie...he was not in the mood. He did have fun, but he didn't want to pose for me at all today. That's okay. He had fun, that's what matters.
Oh, don't they have such a life? Wake up, Tobe! I know you're relaxed, but we can sleep when we get home.
Taking some time to smell the flowers...
They were more interested in the people walking behind me saying "oooh, they're so cute...".
My two special boys. They are just the best.
Toby, what did you do with your brother?
This boy cracks me up! He walked right up on this anchor and posed. He actually had his feet up on the ledge there and was posed, but I didn't get the shot in time. This is up off of the ground, where he's sitting. He just likes to pose for me. This is in front of the Maritime Museum.
Strapped in and heading home.
Such good boys.
A good time to rest, I think.
Oh, now they are very interested. I got out to get a fruit smoothie. Sorry, but they didn't have any chicken flavored ones.
Back home at last. Poor Elvie is oh so tired....
