Dog Beach Sunset

Tonight we had a great walk at the local "dog beach", Arroyo Beach.
Click here to read about this beach, it's one of the many beautiful beaches in and around Santa Barbara.

We walked quite a distance tonight, further than we'd walked on this beach before.  We got just around the point on the right of the background, and got a glorious view of the sun setting.

It was one of those sunsets that seemed almost perfect.  The sun seemed totally round and it was a joy to watch it disappear in a rainbow of colors.  Add that to the smell of flowers in the air, the clean, fresh feel of the slight wind, and you couldn't ask for a better evening.

I hope you enjoy watching the sunset with us.

This is when you first walk into the beach area.  The beach here isn't right by the road.  There is a lovely path overlooking a small lagoon area that is always full of birds of all kinds.

This is the lagoon.  Over to the left is where a lot of the big dogs run, as it's an "off leash" area.  It's fun watching them run in and out of the water.

There were so many surfers in the water today.  You can see little heads, that almost look like birds, in the water.

See the surfers out there?  This time of day is the best at this beach and there were surfers all up and down the beach in this area.

More of the surfers.  I saw a few catch a wave, but not many.  It's really fun to just sit and watch them all.

Litte Elvis taking a break

My "thinker", Toby

"Hey, do I smell chicken?"

Messy Elvis wanting to be picked up

I got one surfer actually surfing, if you can see to the right of the picture

I think it's almost as fun watching them crash!  They almost look like little sharks out there.

This was interesting!  We passed a photo shoot.  This lady was gorgeous and the photographer was getting the sunset in the background.  Should be beautiful pictures.

This is on the other side of them.  They stayed until the sun went down, changing outfits a few times.

This is the rest of the crew, I had guessed.

The boys found a cave and a ledge and enjoyed playing up there for awhile

Toby

Elvis was so good to "stay" while I tried to take his picture.  He's standing on sand that was giving way, and he still tried so hard to stay there for me.

It's getting dark, so one more pose and we're going home !
Toby's hair looks so funny.

Ahhh, somebody wanted to be left alone because he was so tired

They were exhausted, but they love it so much
