We decided to go to Rincon Beach (the background of this page is taken there),
which is a big spot for surfers in the area. This is the one beach I had not been to yet.
I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it was. I expected it to be much less so, I guess because people only talk about it in conjunction to surfing. Rincon is considered one of the best surfing beaches on the west coast.
We'll definitely go back here and spend some days on the beach. There is a lovely picnic area up on the bluffs before you walk down the steep hill to the beach. Rincon is also where all
the local nudests go to sunbath. It's illegal, but they do it anyway.
We didn't see any this trip, maybe next time.....
Toby and Elvis. Isn't this so peaceful looking?
Here's a little squirrel friend, can you see it in the bushes?
Barb and Toby
This park area has lots of flowers.
My Toby
Do you think Toby is beginning to wonder why I'm always putting him on rocks?
I'm blaming Barb this time though!
We were on our way once again to Montecito and Butterfly Beach.
Barb had never been to Butterfly Beach, so we wanted to pass through there on the way home. Each beach is so different, yet all so beautiful. We met some nice people here who had rescue Greyhounds. I always seem to meet a lot of dog people here.
It was starting to cool off a bit and was just so pretty there.
These were the nicest people. We talked to them for quite awhile.
The dogs were especially nice. This is Barb approaching them the way you should
approach a dog. Put your hand out slowly and let them smell you. Don't rush at
a strange dog, they take that as aggression. Approach them gently, allowing
them to smell you first and get more comfortable.
Barb and I decided to take the boys home and head out for a nice dinner down on the harbor. We decided on Chuck's, which is supposed to have the best steak in Santa Barbara.
They opened a new restaurant on the harbor and I just love the harbor area. Me and the boys go down there and walk a lot.
If you look at the virtual tour, you can see that sandbar that is off to the side and the
rocks going up the middle. That's where me and the boys were on Easter when I got
the pictures of them in the sandcastle.
This is such a pretty place at night. Unfortunately, my night pictures aren't that great.
But, at least you can see it a bit. The restaurant we went to is in the first lighted building. The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is housed there, too.
Barb and I at dinner. It was a great dinner, and we sat and talked for hours.
I was thrilled when I saw Creme Brulee on the menu for dessert!
My favorite!
We also had some local beer, Firestone. Andrew Firestone lives in Montecito, and has a
brewery in the area. He was on "The Bachelor", I hear.
After dinner we walked a bit and headed home. It was a wonderful day!
The boys and I are still tired....
Here's a great site with virtual tours all over Santa Barbara
Stay tuned...who knows what we'll do next weekend....
